IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Zulema Haydee
Garcia Miguens
September 27, 1938 – December 1, 2023
Zulema García Miguens, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina where she lived for 82 years, and more recent resident of Syosset and Oyster Bay, since 2021, entered eternal rest on Friday, December 1, 2023. She was the widow of the late Néstor De Marco and only child of the late Máximo García (born in Montevideo, Uruguay) and Mercedes Miguens (born in Ourense, Spain), who married and lived in Buenos Aires. She was 85 years old.
Zulema's joy was centered around spending time with her family and friends. She was a nurturing and resilient mother. Zule was a superb cook and enjoyed throwing dinner parties to entertain her extended family which include relatives from Uruguay and Argentina. She fostered these relationships across her lifetime. She looked forward to spending vacations in Piriápolis, a picturesque beach town in Uruguay and weekends in La Martona, a social club near Buenos Aires. Zule cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. In addition to her dedication to family, Zule was a fervent Protestant and an active member of The Baptist Church of "Once"
(referring to a neighborhood in Buenos Aires), a community with which she formed a strong bond and through which she developed many heartfelt friendships.
She is survived by her two daughters, Natalia De Marco García (married to David Pisapia) and Lorena De Marco García (married to Martín Bäcker), both of whom were born, raised and educated in Buenos Aires and moved to the United States, and both of whom ultimately settled in Syosset, NY. In addition to her daughters, Zulema is survived by her four grandchildren all of whom she adored: Anabella, Catalina, Noah, and Thiago.
