Richard J Patak, 75, died on February 12, 2026 while on vacation in Florida. Born and raised in New York, where he lived his entire life in Bayville, NY. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wesley College and Lynchburg University and his master's in education from Hunter College. He worked as a mobility supervisor at the Jewish Guild for the Blind and the Lighthouse Guild for the Blind in New York, NY, for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellen Patak, sons and their spouses, Steven & Melissa, Brian & Nicole, brother, Charles (Collette), and 2 grandchildren, Connor & Harper, as well as niece, Corinne Carone ( Carlo) & nephew, Sean (Laura).

Instead of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to the American Heart Association or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Family will receive friends at the Francis P DeVine Funeral Home, 293 South Street, Oyster Bay, NY, Friday, April 10th, from 3 pm - 7 pm. A funeral mass on Saturday, April 11, at 10:30 am at the Chapel of St. Dominic R.C.C.
