Obituary

Peggy Olstein Wiedman of Oyster Bay, NY passed away from Covid-19 on January 19, 2021 at the age of 71.  Peggy was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and began her career as an Eastern Airlines Flight Attendant. Through her service and dedication to the labor movement, she rose from Eastern Airlines through the ranks of the Transit Workers Union of America/AFL-CIO and retired as the COPE Director in 2009. Peggy was a lifelong lover of cats, travel, a day at the spa and boating on the water. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Melvin Wiedman; stepchildren Mark (Dana), Jennifer Thomas (David) and Karen (Ernesto); grandchildren James Thomas, Samuel, Kirsten Thomas and Benjamin; siblings Shirley Fox-Willey and William R Fox (Donna); nephews Timothy R. Fox (Ryann) and William Benjamin Fox (Meredith); nieces Kristiana Fox, Judith Willey-Ettinger, and Stacey Willey-Rittenberg (Mark); and her cherished cats, Marcel and Princess. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Russell Aldine Fox and Florence Marie Eckard-Fox, and her brother John R. Fox.  Donations in Peggy's memory may be made to the Patricia H.
