Peggy J. White, 92, most recently of New Suffolk, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Saturday, June 5, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 9, 1928, Peggy lived a full life as a respected member of the Long Island community. As a young woman Peggy spent her years not only caring for her family, but helping run the family businesses, White Brother's Transfer Incorporated of 53 Main Street Cold Spring Harbor, NY, and later White's General Store on First Street in New Suffolk, NY. Peggy also spent many years working at the Shelter Island branch of the North Fork Bank, and a decade of volunteer work for the Eastern Long Island Hospital Opportunity Shop. In her "retirement" Peggy was a devout public servant and volunteer across the North Fork. While Peggy spent her life loving and caring for the Long Island community, it is made clear through the stories of her friends, family, neighbors, and even short-time acquaintances, that Long Island loved her back. Peggy was lucky enough to have had two great loves in her life. Predeceased by her first husband William Earle White (1925-1979), she is survived by her second husband, George Kunz; a true testament to the caring and loving woman she was. Most significantly though, Peggy was an adoring and loving mother to her children, Kathleen Grace White, and William (Bill) Earle White Jr. (deceased); a devoted stepmother to George's children Patti Pettit (Skip) and Steve Kunz (Brenda), and a beloved grandmother to Bill's children, Jason and Michelle White, as well as Patti's children Dan, Alex, and Amy Pettit. Peggy truly was a caring family member to many across the state of New York and the nation as a whole. Her love knew no bounds, and there was nothing Peggy would not have done for her family. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department, in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to
North Fork Animal Welfare League
or
