Obituary

Mr. Walter Nazarewicz Nazarewicz Walter. of Centre Island , N.Y. passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 he was 84 years old. He was a longtime employee at Charles Pfizer. His first job at the company was as a chemical engineer working in Brooklyn with Penicillin. In the 1970's he moved to Tokyo with his family where he was responsible for Quigley division of Pfizer. His long career at Pfizer culminated in his appointment in 1989 as president of their minerals business. The company was later spun off and became Mineral Technologies in 1992. He was extremely proud of his Pfizer and Mineral Technologies family and the many people he considered among his closest friends and family, both in America, Japan and Europe. As a son of Ukrainian immigrants born in New York City's lower East Side, Walter was a Chemical Engineering Masters Degree graduate of The Cooper Union School in 1949. He was a lifetime supporter, advocate and tirelessly devoted to all things Ukrainian. He was a lifetime member of the Ukranian Institute of America in New York City, where he also served proudly for many years as it's president. He was an equally proud American who served his country in World War II in 1946 as a paratrooper of the 511th Airborne Signal Co., and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years , Frances Ziejka Nazarewicz, his daughter Susan Bozek, his son Scott Nazarewicz , his son in law Mark Bozek, beloved grandson Jude Thomas Bozek and sister Mary Stasiuk. Funeral Information Family will receive friends at the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home Inc., 293 South Street, Oyster Bay,Tuesday 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m . Funeral Mass Wednesday 10:00 a.m. St. Gertrudes R. C. Chapel. Interment St. Johns Cemetery, Middle Village Queens.
