Henry R. Curran of Gulfport, FL and formerly of Oyster Bay and
Huntington Bay, NY died peacefully at the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital
in St. Petersburg, FL surrounded by his loving family from complications
of Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Curran was 65 years old.
Mr. Curran was the eldest son of former New York State Senator
Henry M. Curran and Rita Rothmann Curran of Oyster Bay, NY.
Mr. Curran, a business and sales executive, was a senior buyer
and Director of Marketing for the Woolworth Corporation in New
York City. Mr. Curran also owned his own sales and marketing firm,
Jasper Trading International Inc.
Mr. Curran, a graduate of Manhattan College, earned varsity letters
as a NCAA Division 1 runner in cross-country and track and participated
in the Millrose Games and Penn Relay track events.
Upon graduation from Manhattan College, Mr. Curran enlisted in the
United States Navy during the Vietnam War era and served as a
Lieutenant (JG).
An avid fisherman and boater, Mr. Curran participated in
numerous fishing tournaments in Montauk and enjoyed his
Grady White boat on Huntington Bay.
Predeceased by his beloved parents, Mr. Curran is survived by his
son Bret and daughter-in-law Colleen of Northport, brothers Paul
of Winchester, TN and Peter of Nashua, N.H. and his sister Lecia
DeHaven of Westfield, NJ. Mr. Curran is also survived by his aunt,
Paula Colton Woods of Stratford, CT, his former wife Geraldine Ryan
Curran of Northport and several cousins, nieces and nephews
