In Loving Memory of Margaret Cossingham
Margaret Cossingham’s life journey began in Jamaica, Georgia, where she was born in 1938 to the late Emanuel and Rozerena Lawrence. She was their firstborn, and her parents later welcomed four more children. As a young girl, her family moved to New York City, where she later attended Sarah J. Haley High School. After graduating, Margaret began her career with the United States Postal Service, where she met her husband, Richard Cossingham. The two fell in love, married, and welcomed their first and only son, Richie. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and family. Margaret dedicated four decades to the Postal Service before retiring. She was hardworking, caring, and loving, with a strength and determination that carried her through life’s many chapters. Margaret experienced the loss of her beloved husband, Richard, and continued on with her son, Richie, by her side. She also endured the loss of three siblings: Mary Hammond, Betty Dorch, and James Lawrence. Margaret leaves behind a rich legacy full of love. She is survived by her beloved son, Richie, whom she loved dearly; her sister, Inez Washington; her brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Margaret leaves an indelible mark on all who knew and loved her. Margaret was a strong, resilient, no-nonsense woman who lived life on her own terms. Above all, she was a devoted mother who raised an amazing son, Richie, who was, and always will be, her one and only. He is her greatest pride, her greatest love, and her lasting legacy. ♡
