IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy
Kraszewski
April 11, 1936 – January 26, 2023
Joy Kraszewski passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and beloved pets on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
Joy was born April 11, 1936, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She was the youngest of three daughters to Andrew and Elsie Gondola (nee Samsoe). Joy graduated from Perth Amboy High School and worked in a bank before spending decades working with the Girl Scouts of New Jersey.
After retirement Joy and her husband moved to Long Island to care for Beverley's children while she went to medical school. Joy spent more than 20 years caring for her grandchildren and all of their friends, who affectionately called her grandma. She also spent her years doting on her various pets who followed her everywhere and slept by her side.
Joy was a great cook, an accomplished gardener and talented seamstress, making clothes for all her children and grandchildren throughout the years including her daughter's wedding dress. She loved making crafts and decorating for Christmas and other holidays. She could always be found in the morning enjoying the outdoors, working in her garden with a cigarette and coffee.
She is preceded in death by husband Edward Kraszewski, daughter Hollie Joy Kraszewski, and her sisters Dot Sullivan and Bev Lasko.
Joy leaves behind daughter Dr. Beverley Kraszewski-Silverman and son-in-law Peter Silverman of Bayville, NY. Grandchildren Hollie and Max DiDuro, Benjamin Silverman and partner Kara, Rebekah Silverman and partner Vaughn, Jessica Silverman and partner Carlos and son Edward Kraszewski Jr. of St. Regis, MT. (Grandson Edward Benjamin Kraszewski and granddaughter Lisa Breshinsky), and daughter Kathy Cascio of St Regis, MT. (Grandsons Keith Michalski and Brian Michalski)
She was blessed with several great grandchildren: Elora Marie Silverman, Edison Asher Silverman-Burke, Aurora, Ella and Roman Kraszewski, and Jake and Ava Michalski.
Joy will be missed immensely by everyone who knew her.
