Sonneborn, Howard D. age 91, lifetime resident of Oyster Bay. Went to his heavenly home on January 16, 2023. Son of the late Ella and Herman Sonneborn. Beloved and loving husband of Virginia (nee Cucci). Father of Howard D. Sonneborn, Jr. (Lynn) and Debra-Lynn Beardsley (Clifford). Adored Grampa of Howard D. Sonneborn III, Alexandria Sonneborn Worall (Terry) Jessica Beardsley Martignetti (Anthony), Christopher Beardsley (Alyssa), Travis Sonneborn (Cristal) and Zachary Sonneborn (Rachel). Special Great grampa of Noah Ortiz, Brody, Luke and Brianna Worall and Logan Sonneborn.

Howard was a proud American who served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, the Amvets and the VFW.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Ethel Clark Hauser (Albert), Walter Clark (Catherine), Leola Clark Murray (Robert), Charles Clark (Dorothy) Florence Robicheau (Wally), Luella Sonneborn (Anthony) Sanzoverino and Gloria Sonneborn (Wesley) Miranda. He is survived by his brother Herman Sonneborn (Joan) and many relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home 293 South St. Oyster Bay, NY on Thursday January 19, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday January 20, 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Dominic Church.  Interment to follow with Military Honors at the Memorial cemetery of St. John's in Laurel Hollow.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations in Howard's name to St. Jude children's research hospital or to the Oyster Bay Fire Companies.
