Obituary

George Scott, age 93, born December 13, 1926 died April 26, 2020. George has been in poor health over the past few years, but still had a zest for life and until this last battle with the Covid 19 virus, kept on fighting. Son of the late George Scott and Christine Scott, George was predeceased by his three siblings Al, John, and sister Christine. George was also predeceased by his grandson George Scott IV. George is survived by loving family, his wife of 31 years, Alberta Hanko, his two children, George Scott III (Christine), Joann Scott Robbins and his stepson Joseph E. Hanko (Norma Jean). He leaves 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. George is also survived by his loving dog Dexter, who loved sharing any chair with George, and his cat Munchkin. George loved all animals, and had given a home to many homeless pets over the years. George served in the Navy during WWII. He then went on to open Scott Brothers Automotive Corp with his brother Al, and then Scott & Hanko Auto Collision. In his later years he worked at Landscape Adventure alongside his son George. He was a kind man who was always thinking of other people and there to help anyone who asked. A friend many years ago had said of him: "People don't realize how much George has always done for others because he is quiet about it". Due to current health concerns we are not able to have a service at this time. Those who wish to donate in George's memory may do so at Forgotten Friends of Long Island. Forgotten Friends of Long Island, PO Box 710, Plainview, NY 11803 or www.forgottenfriendsoflongisland.org
