April 20, 1955 – August 1, 2023
In loving memory of Dale F. Caines, 68, who passed away on August 1, 2023, in Syosset, NY after bravely battling a long illness, surrounded by his adoring family. Dale will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was born on April 20, 1955, in Mineola, NY, to his parents, the late Aurelia and Charles Caines.
Dale was a devoted husband and best friend to his beloved wife, Helen. He was also a cherished father to Matthew Caines and Alexandra Campbell. Dale was a loving father-in-law to John Campbell and a doting grandfather to Kennedy and Owen Campbell.
Throughout his life, Dale had various passions and hobbies, including spending time at the beach, playing the drums (using the same set as Ringo Starr of the Beatles), attending Eagles concerts, and passionately supporting the New York Jets since Super Bowl III. Known for his great sense of humor, kindness, and genuine nature, Dale's unwavering love for his family and loyalty to those he held dear were admired by all.
Dale was an outstanding member of the Syosset Fire Department for an impressive 50 years, starting his service in 1973. His dedication and commitment to the department were recognized, and he served as the Chief of Department twice, from 1984 to 1986 and from 1992 to 1994.
A funeral service in honor of Dale's life will be held on Friday, August 4th, at Syosset Fire Department Headquarters 50 Cold Spring Rd. Syosset, NY 11791 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Firematic Services will be held at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Chapel of St. Dominic Church 93 Anstice Street, Oyster Bay, NY 11771 on Saturday, August 5th, at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Nassau County Burn Center Foundation 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow NY 11554 in memory of Dale F. Caines.
