Catherine Burke (nee McKenna) passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. She left this world to be with the Lord in her 96th year. Born in Motherwell, Scotland, she was the second of five siblings and grew up in a large extended family. She attended catholic schools throughout her childhood during the Second World War. Along with her books, she carried her gas mask to school. Upon arriving in the United States in the early 1950s, she worked as an au pair. Shortly afterward, she met her future husband, Daniel. She is survived by her sister Agnes Timlin, her brother John McDade, and her children, Anne (Steph), Daniel (Suzi), John (Rose), Patricia (John), and Sandra (Michael)—cherished Grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother to twelve.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 10 at 10:30 am at St. Dominic's RC Church in Oyster Bay. 

Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Brookville, L.I.
