IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carmela P.
Altieri
May 12, 1936 – June 2, 2024
Carmela P. Altieri, a pillar of intellect and warmth, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Donald. Loving mother of Carolyn Corona (Alfredo), Barbara Lassandro (Thomas) and Laura Marziliano (Michael). Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Noel, Michael and John. Dear sister of Rosemarie Colletta and Michael Priore.
Born in Flushing, New York, Carmela's journey began with academic excellence, graduating as valedictorian from Dominican Commercial High School. She embarked on a successful career in business alongside her husband, Don, while her heart remained devoted to her passions. Carmela found solace in books, joy at the beach, and pure happiness on the dance floor. But her greatest joy was simply being with her family, gathered around the dining room table, sharing stories and laughter. Carmela's legacy isn't just in her accomplishments but in the traditions that brought her family together. Christmas meant baking cookies, Easter was for coloring eggs, and Thanksgiving wasn't complete without her famous artichokes. Gift wrapping was an art form she mastered with her three girls, the loves of her life, creating the most beautiful bows that adorned each package with care. Carmela leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and boundless love. Though she may be gone, her spirit will continue to dance on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends at the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 4pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Chapel of St. Dominic R.C Church, Oyster Bay, New York. Interment to follow at Mount St. Mary cemetery, Flushing, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America in Carmela's honor.
