Barbara H. Conolly - died on May 1, 2026, at the age of 98. Devoted wife of the late Joseph B. Conolly Jr., loving mother of Peter and Catherine (Rodney Lee Brown Jr.), and grandmother of Abbey Conolly Brown. Graduate of the Brearley School, NY, 1944, and Barnard College, 1948. Former Hon. Secretary of the Meadow Brook Hounds, L.I., 1945-52. Director of Religious Education at Community Church, Syosset, 1948-52, natural history teacher at Human Resources School, Albertson, L.I., Holy Child School, Old Westbury, L.I., and for several years at Planting Fields Arboretum, Oyster Bay, L.I. Recording Secretary of Long Island Botanical Society for three decades, and co-author with Grace E. Lotowycz of “An Illustrated Field Guide of the Shrubs and Woody Vines of Long Island” (2004). Served on various boards, including the North Shore Wildlife Society, Long Island Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and others. Ardent bird watcher and botanist, community scientist, watercolorist, writer, poet (self-published “Bones and Other Poems,” 2003), lover of horses, and her Catholic faith.

 Family will receive friends Thursday, May 14, from 4-8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial St. Dominic’s Chapel, Oyster Bay, on Friday, May 15, at 9:30 a.m.
